How much will it cost to build the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa?

The preliminary costs for a 29-guest room building are estimated at the following:

Construction   $4 million  
Operating Endowment   $4 million  
 
Total Campaign Goal   $8 million  
       
Total campaign goal raised so far   $7.2 million           
 
Amount remaining to raise   $800,000           

The Ground Breaking Ceremony

On Thursday, July 12 we broke ground on the Russell and Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge near Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Spectators at the ceremony were taken off-guard by an additional generous spur of the moment donation from Russ and Ann Gerdin who donated an additional $1 million to the Lodge named after them. Before the groundbreaking ceremony, the Gerdins had donated $2 million to the project. Speakers at the ceremony included Jari Johnston-Allen, Midwest Division CEO, Ron Person Volunteer Chair of the statewide campaign, and Russell and Ann Gerdin..
